Everyday Makeup Look

GET THE LOOK:

apply moisturizer to your entire face

dot a tinted moisturizer, bb cream or light foundation to cheek bones, nose, forehead and chin
(gently pat in with fingertips or brush)
apply concealer to problem areas
(I use it to cover under-eye circles and redness underneath my nose)
apply bronzer
apply cream blush
keep eyebrows in place
(I lightly dust some hairspray on a spooly)
apply a neutral/matte eyeshadow
(I do this just to brighten my eyes a bit)
apply mascara!
(I usually do one coat for a more natural look)
apply a tinted lip moisturizer
(rather than lipstick or lipgloss - I like to go for low maintenance!)

Long Bob Hairstyle

Just chopped off my locks into a long bob (LOB) and although I still see a different person when I look in the mirror, I am in love with it!  I like to change things up, if I have the same hairstyle for too long I get bored so this is exciting for me.  There are so many different hairstyles I can do now and they are so fast and easy!

This hairstyle I chose to show you today is going to be my new go-to I think.  So simple and it keeps the hair out of my face :)

Step 1: Start with one side and braid the front half of your hair; tie with an elastic (preferably the small "invisible" ones)

Step 2: Repeat on the other side :)

Step 3: Take the braid and put it behind your ear, sectioning off the small piece left in front of it.

Step 4: Bobby pin the braid behind the ear (vertically) to keep it in place. At this point you can either take out the elastic or leave it in. (I choose to leave it in for extra hold)

Step 5: First side finished!

Step 6: Repeat on the other side & VOILA!

Animal Friendly Makeup

Starting a Cruelty-Free Makeup Bag

If it's time to do a spring cleaning of your makeup bag and you've been thinking about trying new products, you should definitely consider going cruelty-free!  These are 4 products available in Canada that are partnered with The Leaping Bunny and identified as cruelty-free by Peta.  More animal friendly products that can be found in your location are listed on leapingbunny.org - I LOVE this site, it makes shopping so much easier!

E.L.F. Cosmetics: great stuff and super inexpensive, but hard to find on the shelf in Canada(sometimes at Target, Winners, Marshall's, or Wall-mart).  To get exactly what you're looking for it's best to order online.

$3.00 - Volume Plumping Mascara

LUSH: constantly promoting their cruelty-free reputation they have some of the best hand made beauty products out there.  Their stores are constantly growing all over Canada, you can find the nearest store to you on their site, and of course online shopping is another option.

$24.95 - Sensitive skin face moisturizer

Bath and Body Works: Best for their shower essentials and fragrances and they are so easy to find - stores all over the place!  I personally love "sweet pea" as a body lotion because the scent is super light.
$34.50 - Sweet Pea Perfume

Smashbox Cosmetics: Good quality and moderately priced, a go-to because it can be found at the drug store!  A huge variety of cruelty-free cosmetics, you just can't go wrong.

$30.00 - Baked Fusion Bronzer

The Long Bob

I love the long bob and have been considering getting this look for some time now, but I'm still having fun styling my long hair and can't give it up yet!  I have picked my 3 favourite celebrity long bob cuts, Jessica Alba, Nicole Richie and Olivia Palermo.  Also, I have to note that I'm in love with the golden brown colour they have chosen as well - to die for!

All the Rave: Pastel Hair

There are endless options with this colourful trend, from full permanent colour to temporary tips.

5 Tips for Pastel Hair:

1. If you're going for a full-permanent look, a DIY project may not be the best decision ESPECIALLY if you haven't done it before.
2. ALWAYS test a section of hair before dying the whole thing, that way you won't be surprised if it doesn't turn out the way you imagined!
3. Start with a temporary colour before committing to permanent dye if you are unsure, it's kind of like training wheels.
4. Combing a colour with your original hair colour may be a good way to get started, baby steps.. (dip dye, ombre, piecing etc.)
5. Never be afraid to be DIFFERENT! <3
